Because of the extremely adverse conditions under which this equipment must operate, special care should be taken in maintaining it.

  1. Always cover the equipment when not in use.
  2. All moving parts inside the receiver and Breech block should be cleaned periodically with a non-petroleum solvent to remove dirt. We recommend a silicon lubricant. Do not oil any exterior parts since oil will attract dirt.
  3. After each shooting, the shell chamber should be cleaned using non-petroleum based solvent and Chamber Cleaning Brush #R003. The Chamber Cleaning Brush is provided with every Mark IV. The #R003 Chamber Cleaning Brush can be ordered separately or is provided in the #R499A Cleaning Kit.

*NOTE: Portable shooting stands are not furnished by Winchester. Customer may obtain technical drawings by ordering form E-3-5/86.
